The Battle of Playoff Hill
Leave no point behind.
One week left in the regular season, and the playoff picture (from first seed to last) is still for the taking. This is war. Battles have been going on for thirteen weeks, and it still comes down to the last episode where it’s the duel of the fates type theater—multiple battles at the same time.
Philosopher George Santayana once said, “Only the dead have seen the end of war.” Well, at this point, all twelve teams are alive and fighting for something. It’s going to take one more week for us to have a body count and sort everything out. We’ve got first round BYEs that three teams are fighting for, which can easily drop one of them to the fourth seed, depending on what happens next week, and eight teams that can go from playoff berth to consolation brackets. Also, the last place team could have six wins in what could be one of the most competitive seasons in AGS history. No golden tickets have been given out yet.
What the league still pumps out are Monday Night Miracles. On the brink of clinching a last place finish with a loss last week, Rebel Scum squeezed out a win against Penthouse Pimps to keep a traffic jam in the standings.
T. Ruth kept a hold on his division lead, topping West Koast Voodoo as the high scorer of the week.
Whose (sic) Coming in Second continues his hot streak, upsetting New Jax City to keep the former AGS champion’s playoff hopes on ice and to keep Whose (sic) Coming in Second away from another last place finish.
Rudy’s Replacements rebounded after last week’s loss with a pivotal win over Oops Babies, keeping his divisional lead and playoff hopes alive.
With injuries piling up, but still in playoff contention, The Sugandese were blown out by the Frogs. Also note that the win keeps Cebert away from last place.
Lastly, a big matchup with first round BYE talk at stake, current champion Ambassadors of Quan gets the big win over The Curse to (possibly) clinch the division.
This week, we have two-time AGS champion T. Ruth (aka Jamon Hicks) stopping by for the first time. The Counselor gives his Da Vinci code explanation on his team’s name and his history with AGS. Don’t miss out on another definition of what a “slurp” is and anything else we talked about.
Week 13 is here, and this is Any Given Sunday.
