Do or Die

There’s no time for caution in the AGS playoffs.
A season’s worth of heart-attack wins and grueling losses is wiped clean with the first round of the playoffs in the books. All the work that went into making the tournament, all the time spent reading articles and listening to podcasts and watching people on TV debate the merits of starting any one on the Denver Broncos, all of it is irrelevant after last week in the NFL.
For those hard luck team owners who are now making plans for the offseason (and a stress-free Christmas Sunday), thank you for a season of thrills and laughs. There are 4 teams left alive that will square off in a semi-final battle this week, and two more teams will receive a big ass lump of coal in their stockings.
“Bah, humbug!” they shout, without cheer, out of sight,
For only two AGS teams will have a merry Christmas night.
Emmitt, aka Rudy’s Replacements, wasn’t able to join the conversation this week. That’s how it goes sometimes when you’re far from professional and doing this kind of self-indulgent shit as a hobby. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the hobby for the bread-winner. Anyway, because Rudy had other things to prioritize, this week’s rundown of last week will be brief.
Reactions to Week 15:
Nick: I was glad that I didn’t have to play this week because I wouldn’t have scored enough points to beat any of the teams that played. It was a high-scoring week for T. Ruth (171.5) and The Curse (161). Those scores are impossible to beat. I was surprised that it got so out of hand, but I expected the end result.
Scum, how do you feel about matching up with your Week 14 and division rival, T. Ruth?
Nick: We’re in it to win it, but T. Ruth is t-uff. King Henry has a soft matchup against the Texans that could end up being another big day for him. Waddle looks like he’s heating up again just in time for the playoffs. Kirk Thuggins in an afternoon matchup against the Giants could be trouble, but the thing is, to quote Rudy, “the players gotta play”. I like the matchups for the dudes on my roster. Rebel Scum just have to go out and do their thing, which is the same thing they’ve been doing the last 10 weeks: score more points than the other team.
Week16/Playoff Round 2 Predictions:
Nick: All season long, Lou Gray of Ambassadors of Quan has praised Joey Bryant and his team, The Curse, for the brilliant roster moves and genius game day coaching, going so far as to publicly state that The Curse is “scary”. This week, he’s speaking truth to power and will fall to The Curse in what should be a close game.
For the other playoff matchup, I expect a tight contest with T. Ruth through the weekend games until Rebel Scum busts it open on Monday night, and we punch our ticket to the AGS Super Bowl.
